The voice of Kirsty Hawkshaw
Fans of "The ADHD Revolution" will know Kirsty Hawkshaw by her voice on ADHF09b, where her vocals deliver the message behind the song "Just Be" with Tiesto. Millions of fans know her best by her voice, as she's lent her vocals to many well-known songs. To name just a few: bt's "Dreaming", Opus III's "It's a Fine Day" and "Stealth".
I recently found myself obsessed (yet again) with another song that featured Kirsty on vocals--"Whisper" by Slovo. It caught me off guard, as I've become adapted to her voice mixed into electronica tracks. The raw edge to her voice as well as the non-processed sounds from the instruments have stayed with me. Slovo is primarily an indie acoustic group, not electronic. With the work Kirsty's done outside of electronica, I personally should've seen a collaboration like this coming.

Her voice is unmistakable to anyone who has obsessed over even two songs she's worked on. Outside of vocals, she has created an ambient release called "The Ice Castle" and created a now legendary persona on the virtual environment Second Life. Anyone who grew up in the rave scenes of the 90s or helped form that environment will recognize her voice in a heartbeat. She may as well have defined the era.

Note: This is Kirsty on the production side of things instead of behind the mic. Her album "The Ice Castle" shows an almost Japanese level of patience and detail to the production and brings in her voice only rarely as a textural addition to a song. While initially unexpected, the album has only grown on me over time. The best part of "SOLITARY", at least for me, is easily in the middle where the sounds begin an almost music-box style dance. Bittersweet yet playful.
